Transportation Security Administration

TSA (Transportation Security Administration)

The Transportation Security Administration was formed immediately following the tragedy of September 11. This agency is a component of the Department of Homeland Security and is responsible for security of the nation's transportation systems.

C-TPAT (Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism)

Under this security compliance program, companies sign an agreement to work with Customs Border Protection (CBP) to implement specific security measures and best practices. C-TPAT members are considered low-risk and therefore less likely to be examined.

IATA (International Air Transport Association)

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) is the trade association for the world’s airlines, representing some 275 airlines or 83% of total air traffic. IATA supports many areas of aviation activity and helps formulate industry policy on critical aviation issues.
